On meeting her first owner, Jacket is pleased as she assesses the woman. "She is pretty, in the way of the very wealthy. Flawless teeth and skin, nose straight, hair styled, colored and coaxed into naturalness by experts," says Jacket to herself. "But I needn’t have worried: she is not so pretty that she will detract attention from me. I approve of her size and carriage. She has the perfect construct to show me off to my best advantage. It is as if she were constructed to order for me."
An award-winning garment from Paris, gifted with sentience, she is the highest achievement of one of the top designers in the world. She is the winning garment in a contest of the finest garments ever worn or displayed. She is gifted with the dubious knowledge of self and ability to know others. She does not know why she has this gift and does not care; she only knows of her worth, her breathtaking beauty, and her place as queen of the extravagant closets she will inhabit. Jacket has much to learn.
