Donna H. Black
Rommey Clipper has been given the chance to earn back his lost life by serving as an editor of memories. After making a choice that ended his life, he is slowly mending his fate as he frees others to live new lives without their debilitating memories. The fact that no one remembers him after he performs the edit is just one of the drawbacks of the new existence he is living with his cat, Reddy, as he adds up the edits that will fulfill his obligation and set him free. (Trigger Warning: Low detail discussion of self-harm, abuse, bullying)
Donna H. Black has written a charming tale of magical realism that explores questions of duty, strength, heartbreak, depravity, and forgiveness of others and ourselves. As in life, threads of humor are woven through the serious subjects.
Author of the 2020 release, Rain and Wind: Collected Poems, The Memory Editor is Black’s second publication.
