The Pool of Wisdom, originally published in 1928, preserves Krishnamurti at that decisive threshold. Its talks and addresses include The Pool of Wisdom, Who Brings the Truth, By What Authority, and three poems, together with material connected to the Order of the Star. Here Krishnamurti still speaks the language of the World Teacher, the Beloved, Maitreya, spiritual evolution, karma, liberation, and the Masters—yet he is already questioning the authority, labels, organizations, and inherited forms surrounding them.
This book provide a rare document of transition. Krishnamurti speaks openly of his early visions of Krishna, his encounter with the Theosophical conception of Master K.H. and Maitreya, his dissatisfaction with authority, and his growing insistence that Truth must ultimately be discovered rather than received secondhand.
For listeners of Krishnamurti, Theosophy, comparative religion, mysticism, Indian philosophy, and the history of modern spirituality, The Pool of Wisdom captures a singular moment: a teacher standing inside a spiritual system while already discovering the ideas that would eventually carry him beyond it.
