For humans and vampires, the rules of survival are the same: never trust, never yield, and always– always–guard your heart.
The adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, Oraya carved her place in a world designed to kill her. Her only chance to become something more than prey is entering the Kejari: a legendary tournament held by the goddess of death herself.
But winning won't be easy amongst the most vicious warriors from all three vampire houses. To survive, Oraya is forced to make an alliance with a mysterious rival.
Everything about Raihn is dangerous. He is a ruthless vampire, an efficient killer, an enemy to her father's crown…and her greatest competition. Yet, what terrifies Oraya most of all is that she finds herself oddly drawn to him.
But there's no room for compassion in the Kejari. War for the House of Night brews, shattering everything that Oraya thought she knew about her home.
In a kingdom where nothing is more deadly than love, Raihn may understand her more than anyone, but their blossoming attraction could be her downfall.
The Serpent and the Wings of Night is the first book in the Crowns of Nyaxia series, a heart-wrenching romance full of dark magic and bloodthirsty intrigue.
©2023 Carissa Broadbent (P)2023 Podium AudioI loved this! I was super entertained the whole time but the ending was what did it for me.
The romance is a slow burn and I wasn't expecting that but I really loved it! It didn't feel all that slow. And the chemistry between them was great.
The story is narrated by Oraya and it also has flashbacks. Sometimes I wanted Raihn's POV too but Oraya's thoughts and journey were amazing though.
I'm interested in the world, I need more information and I'm glad there are at least two more books in this series.
The trials of the tournament were so good and unique, I was so invested in them. It kind of reminded me of the Hunger Games but an adult version, that was both nostalgic and fantastic.
The flashbacks added a lot to the story and you understand more about Oraya with them.
That ending, wow. It got to a part where things started revealing and there were a few plot twists one after the other. So good!
Now I really need the sequel!
Fantastic
