Originally written for our youngest daughter as she prepared for college, this is the "real" story of how my wife and I met, fell in love, and got married (including an important "Happily Ever Afterword" at the end of the book, which talks specifically about the how and why our marriage and friendship has lasted for so many years).
It is not the story we told our children when they were young, but as they became young adults, we thought it would be helpful for them to know that, in the real world, the story of relationships can get a lot more...complicated, and that's okay.
The truth is that our relationship took years to grow. The truth is that there were other relationships that we had (or were in) at the time. The truth is that we were engaged (to each other) twice...and finally, the truth is that we faced many obstacles and challenges on the road to being their parents. We hope that knowing our real story will help them in their own lives and relationships, and to know that it's okay if their lives turn out to be a little more...complicated.
