Confronted with the reality of magic, Nathelion is now forced to question everything he has ever believed about the world – usurped prophecies included. Caught up in the insidious webs of the undead, attacked by mythical beasts and hunted by an infamous bandit king, the runaway farmhand still has an even greater problem. By unwittingly hijacking prophecy, he has set himself on a collision course with the goddess of suffering herself.
Burdened by guilt, and in the possession of a magical sword that once belonged to the real Chosen One, Nathelion must find a way to outmaneuver his fate a second time. But that is easier said than done when the world is falling apart.
As if that wasn’t enough, his newfound friends are counting on him.
The Untoward is the second novel in the Queen Beyond epic fantasy series. If you enjoy unlikely heroes, sweeping storylines, and madcap comedy, you’ll love Simon Markusson’s tale.
