The Weight of Omission: Silence Is Not Neutral.
In a system built on records, what goes missing matters more than what is written. When a young mother enlists in the Army to escape a history she did not choose, a single omission quietly reshapes the future of her child. No alarms sound. No rules are openly broken.
The paperwork moves forward anyway. What follows is not a scandal, but something worse: a chain of correct procedures carried out in bad faith, where silence becomes policy and accountability is endlessly deferred. A recruiter spirals. A command closes ranks.
A father watches from prison as his grandson is erased by process. A system designed to protect its own discovers, too late, that omission leaves a trace no one can bury. Set against the backdrop of small-town Louisiana, military recruiting offices, and the machinery of institutional power, The Weight of Omission is a relentless examination of how lives are altered, not by dramatic acts, but by what is allowed to pass unchallenged.
This is not a story about heroes or villains. It is a story about responsibility. Silence is never neutral
