There is no good in demons. They are born of corruption, and drawn ever toward the sin that made them. Where trust is given, ruin follows.
- From the Divine Scriptures
Aurelie Chantelune was born to serve. Raised as a knight in a kingdom ravaged by demons, she's spent her life honing her blade, driven by the memory of the monsters who tore her family apart and by the knowledge that she's one of the few who can stop them.
If Aurelie can claim her first kill, she'll inherit a legacy passed down through the Chantelune bloodline: a soulbond with Yuriel, an angel whose power is vital to her kingdom's survival. But when those she loves begin turning into the very monsters she's sworn to destroy, Aurelie is forced to seek help from the last place she ever imagined. Desperate, she forges a second and far more dangerous bond with Severin, a demon she can hardly trust, but who claims to know how to end the war for good.
With their lives and fates entwined, Aurelie, Yuriel, and Severin must team up to hunt down a cure capable of turning demons back into humans. But the more they learn about one another and the deeper their relationships grow, the more Aurelie begins to question the war and her place in it. With both of her bonded on opposing sides, she'll have to make a choice: continue to stand with the angels, or risk everything by trusting a demon.
The Wretched Divine is the heart-pounding adult debut from Sunday Times bestseller Adalyn Grace, about an ancient war between angels and demons, and the human knight determined to end it at any cost - unmissable for readers who love the rich slow-burn of The Infernal Devices and the epic worlds of Stormlight and Farseer.©2026 Adalyn Grace, Inc. An utterly original and epic tale of angels, demons, and magic. This divine adventure crackles with sizzling romance and relentless momentum that will leave readers clamoring for book two!
Prepare to be swept away by the magic of The Wretched Divine. Grace's writing is both lush and sharp as steel, and this epic unfolds like a ballad - enthralling, romantic, and devastating in the best of ways. I couldn't put it down
The Wretched Divine is a triumph of fantasy. Grace is a master of crafting characters that make you want to follow them into the dark while weaving ethereal magic and biting humor into her worlds. The adventure is thrilling, the tension is electric, and the story will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page
A blazing epic of angels, demons, and destiny. The Wretched Divine left my heart pounding. Cancel all your plans and prepare to be swept away
Dark, aching, and ferociously romantic, The Wretched Divine crackles with holy fire and ruinous longing. Adalyn Grace weaves angels and demons into a story where love is a rebellion and divinity comes at a devastating cost. This is a world that will haunt you long after the last page
The Wretched Divine effortlessly weaves magnificent worldbuilding, haunting and complex characters, with a deliciously entangled romance. I adored every page, a triumph of storytelling-utterly epic, riveting, and romantic!
The Wretched Divine has it all: a richly imagined world with real teeth, twists you won't see coming, and a heroine who's brave, vulnerable, and terrifying with a blade. This is an edge-of-your-seat page turner from start to finish
A novel featuring warriors, healers and rules set in a universe resplendent with struggles, losses and victories, this book will not disappoint. Get comfy; you're going to have a hard time putting this one down! Adalyn wrote a book that radiates her passion!
This isn't your typical angels vs. demons story. Oh no, it's much more! The characters will suck you in and not let go
In a world torn between angels and demons, the wonderfully named Aurelie Chantelune has a fighting chance of wreaking vengeance: killing a demon will let her bond with an angel and deal with her mother's slayers . . . Sharp, original and compelling
A funny, fierce and devilishly addictive fantasy. Adalyn Grace's debut is a deliciously dark, wildly imaginative fantasy where angels, demons and humans collide . . . and choosing a side is anything but divine
Sizzling. A great premise, gripping writing, and a plot twist I did not see coming. It's a rare and wonderful thing to be totally gripped by a book, but this is exactly what happened for me. It's great when the enemies are actually enemies, and the stakes are high. Severin is a villain with soul, which makes him a fascinating opponent and a vehicle for Aurelie to question her worldview. The angels and demons setup makes for very fun reading too
