"We are not fit to go on the water. We are the sort of people who, if we had to, would ask the time from a man in a boat."
Miles Jupp reads Jerome K. Jerome's classic British comedy, Three Men in a Boat.
In Three Men in a Boat, Jerome K. Jerome delivers a charming and hilariously absurd account of a boating trip gone awry. When three friends—George, Harris, and the narrator—decide to take a relaxing journey down the River Thames, they set off with grand plans of leisure and adventure. What follows is a series of comically disastrous events that reveal just how little they know about boating, camping, or life in general.
With plenty of misadventures, misunderstandings, and laugh-out-loud moments, the trio’s journey becomes a delightful satire on the absurdities of human nature. Through their chaotic escapades, Jerome deftly explores themes of friendship, self-deprecation, and the humour in life’s little mishaps, while offering readers a sharp commentary on the quirks and complexities of Victorian society.
