Seventeen-year-old Roxy Eisen has been told her entire life she is the only hope left for her people. But she's just a normal teenager, except without parents...or freedom.
In 2074 New York City, Regal Manager Leona has taken advantage of the devastated country and claimed the city for her own kingdom. She controls her people by threat of the portal—a gateway to a black hole created in a project to deflect its pull on Earth. Roxy and a bunker full of kids were hidden below the streets of Manhattan when their parents fought and died in the Resistance sixteen years earlier.
Now Morris, their protector, is dead, and Roxy is in charge. She knows they can't stay hidden forever, and based on info from her source and friend, Levi, Leona is closing in. Roxy and Levi can't imagine the journey they'll take when they inevitably stand before the portal. Who will be waiting on the other side? Should Roxy trust Levi, a citadel soldier? What sacrifices will make a way back through time to wage an epic battle against Leona?
