Trilogy II is a three-audiobook series by Wayne Gales that presents a mix of true stories and fictional narratives. The first audiobook, Texas in the Tropics, includes a personal tale inspired by events in 1980 when the author visited his uncle Tex, who was suffering from diabetes and Alzheimer's. During this visit, Tex shared a captivating story that serves as the foundation of this plot. The author also tells a story from the Great Depression and Dust Bowl of the 1930s, focusing on the migration of families like his mother's from rural Arkansas to Southern California. Although the characters are fictional, the experiences reflect the real struggles of the ‘Okies’ during this time.
The second audiobook, What Happens in Key West, follows Brody Wahl and his father's friend, Caretaker, as they become private detectives in Key West. They start with a simple case of infidelity but find themselves involved in a much larger scheme involving international crime and a hidden Spanish treasure.
The final audiobook, Under the Rock, speculates on the possibility of buried treasure in Key West. It features real historical figures, like Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca. The story incorporates historical facts about Key West, adding to its intriguing narrative.
