‘There are moments, Jeeves, when one asks oneself, “Do trousers matter?”’ ‘The mood will pass, sir.’
Another classic in the Jeeves series, Very Good, Jeeves showcases the very best of the incomparable valet and his bumbling master, Bertie Wooster.
First published in 1930, this charming collection of short stories sees hapless Bertie Wooster saved yet again from various scrapes by his ingenious valet, Jeeves. Whether it’s averting disastrous engagements, smoothing over family feuds or untangling sticky situations created by Bertie’s eccentric circle of friends, Jeeves cleverly resolves each potential fiasco with his impeccable calm. Including a rich cast of recurring characters such as Bertie’s hopeless friend Bingo Little, his formidable aunt Agatha, and the troublesome Bobbie Wickham, Very Good, Jeeves remains a staple of Wodehouse’s popular series, and is a testament to its enduring charm.
P. G. Wodehouse (1881 – 1975) was a prolific English writer, having published over ninety books, forty plays and two hundred short stories during his lifetime. Largely known as a humourist, Wodehouse is famed for his eccentric and memorable characters, often set against the backdrop of interwar England.
