This is an anthology of 18 linked stories introducing listeners to the Starmasters.
When humans reached the stars, it happened accidentally.
A girl from Kansas wins a ride to orbit in a lottery. A physicist sets up a mysterious experiment on the same ship. When the experiment is turned on, the girl from Kansas takes the ship through the mysterious Beyond to a new star. Thus begins an intriguing future history in which humans have a rare talent for exploration that is the envy of all the Galaxy.
Here are the stories of the pilots who make it all possible - men and women with a mysterious talent that is their greatest joy and sometimes their greatest sorrow. Meet the characters made famous in song - Beth Kramer, who longs for flight with a helpless passion...the intrepid pilot of the Windsong...the Starmasters' medic called to her profession by the haunting and beautiful Star Pilots' Hymn...and more. Includes lyrics to the songs.
