Now she’s trapped in a strange new digital world, far away from her ailing mother who is in dire need of life-saving surgery. Racing against the clock, her only hope of buying passage back to the real world is to team up with a ragtag bunch of digital misfits to hunt down a grip of top dollar Grailz—rare collectible NFTs (non-fungible tokens) buried deep within the digital rubbish of history. But does this scrappy squad of outliers and castoffs have what it takes to game the system, or will nefarious forces from the sinister side of the metaverse stop them in their digital tracks?     The year is 2040. A competitive Real World gamer named Rolex is time-bumped down to a virtual purgatory of the Metaverse. She is lost, confused, and desperate to get back to the real world, where her mother requires life saving surgery. Meanwhile, The Mist is populated with worthless NFTs, avatars, and cast-off digital characters from the NFT boom of the early 2020s. After meeting up with a Bored Ape Yacht Club member named Dash (Simon Rex), a former NBA highlight in the form of Metta World Peace, and a rising rapper named Stackboy (Trinidad James), she begins her journey to return to the real world with her newfound friends.
