'When I was invited to the large country house of a friend, I expected dances, food, and other entertainments. I never expected to find myself sleeping in a barn haunted by a murderous spirit.' FNH Audio presents an unabridged reading of Algernon Blackwood’s tale of terror.

Algernon Blackwood was a prolific writer of weird and occult tales. This short ghost story from 1906 tells the tale of a traveler, who encounters an elderly man known as the Father of the Village, with precognition of when townspeople will die.

We all long to find a time when we can escape the daily grind and find a hideaway where we won’t be disturbed. We may have projects to complete or rest to enjoy, but the choice of that location is critical. Algernon Blackwood provides a short story of just such a man who is alone in a cottage on a Canadian island. He should have picked a better location, but then this memorable story wouldn’t exist.
