Arthur Cadogan West, a young government clerk, is found dead by the railway tracks near Aldgate. On his body Holmes' brother Mycroft finds some secret submarine plans - three pages of which seem to be missing. A Study in Scarlet is the first Sherlock Holmes book written by author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Dr. John H. Watson meets the great detective Sherlock Holmes, and together, they solve a case of murder, in which Watson is amazed at Holmes' "science of deduction". The mystery revolves around a corpse found at a derelict house in Brixton, London, with the word RACHE scrawled in blood on the wall beside the body.

19. Confession of a Dead Man: The Anglican Priest from Teddington visits, as promised, the Abbey. Their meeting, however, is overshadowed by another death.

A colleague of Dr. Watson asks Sherlock Holmes for help: His patient Joseph Merrick, known in public as the "elephant man", because of his strong physical deformations, was the victim of a brutal assault. Holmes and Watson take over the case, which takes them to the circus milieu.

Holmes faces a moral dilemma, when it turns out that his newest client is a former pirate captain. Years ago, he got cheated out of his share by his comrades, now he is asking Holmes for help with recovering his lost booty.

14. Departure 12:50 am from Teddington: After the weather finally settled down, Watson is able to take the train back to Twickenham. Reunited, Watson and Holmes share their recent and crucial findings.

5. The Last Supper: Holmes is addressing all of the monks in the dining room, and the Abbot asks all his fellow Friars to go to confession, as an attempt to identify the perpetrator.
