When Chelsey Glasson landed her dream job at Google, she was thrilled to join what she viewed as a progressive and inclusive organization. But from the moment she received her job offer, she began to experience instances of discrimination and harassment—eventually culminating in a pregnancy discrimination lawsuit. Friends, family, and even lawyers told Chelsey to move on, but she knew holding Google accountable was the path to proper healing. Although Google would spend significant resources to discredit and silence her, the truth eventually prevailed.

Henry Box Brown’s narrative of his self-liberation was sensational when it was first published, and it remains an extraordinary account today. With the help of abolitionists in Virginia and Philadelphia, Brown arranged to have himself shipped to a Pennsylvania port in a three-by-two-foot wooden crate, bored with three holes to enable him to breathe. After twenty-seven hours and over 350 miles by wagon, rail, boat, and ferry, he eventually made his way to deliverance. But Brown’s memoir is more than a story of endurance and escape.

Being a nerd is hard. Being Black is harder. Being a Black nerd can make you want to give up. But if I can get through it, so can you. This is for anyone who feels, or ever felt, like an outsider- even among the outsiders. There isn't a right or wrong way to cope really, this is just how I did it. All it took was a little patience, a lot of perseverance, and a near lifelong obsession with a long-running, British show, about the adventures of a time-traveling alien.
