Most of the story you hold in your hands takes place in the thirteen hours surrounding the execution of Rooker Flynn. Gerba Whipmarples has won. The headmistress has stolen Nepenthe from Jack, and Rooker has sacrificed his one true love, the Venture Brigand, to save his friend’s life.
