In the fourth book from L. Frank Baum's beloved Oz series, an earthquake pulls Dorothy and her cousin Zeb into an underground land where they find a new series of adventures. Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz takes the heroes on a journey through the glass city of the Vegetable People, through a valley of invisible bears, and back to the land of Oz, where Dorothy's cat is put on trial for a murder she may not have committed.

Dorothy and Uncle Henry go to California to visit family at Hugson's Ranch where Dorothy is introduced to her second cousin, Zeb. While Dorothy, Zeb, and Dorothy's cat, Eureka, are enjoying a horse-drawn buggy ride one afternoon, an earthquake hits, creating an enormous crack in the ground beneath their buggy. They all go tumbling into the crevice, down to the Land of the Mangaboos.

In this adventure, Dorothy gets caught in a California earthquake with her cousin Zeb, and they have many adventures underground with none other than the Wizard of Oz! But can they find their way back to the surface world?

On her way to a ranch outside San Francisco, Dorothy is caught in an earthquake that sends her; her escort, Zeb; and her kitten, Eureka, to a familiar land and familiar faces. But when Eureka is accused of eating Princess Ozma's pet piglet, she stands trial and risks death.
