Thousands are herded onto slave ships headed for the intergalactic auction block. Kris Bjornsen is captured in Denver on her way to her college classes and wakes up on the primitive planet Barevi.

The shipments of Catteni slaves continue, but they find that they are enjoyably reinventing the creature comforts of home, and searching for the origin of the Farmers who were the original occupants of the planet Botany, all under the keen eyes of two very different observers.

Kris Bjornsen has come a long way since alien slave ships scooped her up in Denver with thousands of others. Dropped off on an apparently uninhabited world with the rest, she has fallen in love with Zainal, a renegade Catteni, and has made a comfortable life for herself and her new family. But she feels a soldier's duty to escape Botany and rejoin the struggle for freedom.

The last thing Rictor Hughes expected when he chose to give his life in Kansas to save others was to wake up. Even more surprising was to find himself on the other side of the exploding gateway in a facility under the care of an Artificial Intelligence with psychological issues. The world outside is inhabited by millions of the Kresh and millions of humans under their control.

Once again, Arnold Fitzgerald stars as the main character (at least for the time being). He and Orthopox have been trapped on a prison planet within the system of corrections. Undoubtedly, the sinister Malcolm forces him to get married, and afterward releases him back to Planet Earth (with the proper medication, of course). Once he reunites with his alien friend Muhammad, who cleverly disguises himself as an Arab person—all bets are off! Many new characters, such as Zeke and Queen Nubia, are introduced, and they are in no mood to bargain!

Immunity should have been a good thing. But to escape the captors holding me and my family hostage for immunity testing, I didn’t just jump out of the facility, but off the planet. Now I'm light-years from Earth and escaping aliens, but getting back home means ending an intergalactic trafficking ring. Can I do it before everyone I love is gone? They're immune from the virus that's left Earth a wasteland. Unfortunately, that means their bodies are just what the government wants to find a cure. But Karana and her brother Morren aren't having it.
