Kathrin Krämer und Michel Paquet sind Hauptkommissare in Saarlouis, der 'heimlichen Hauptstadt' des Saarlandes. Ihr aktueller Fall führt sie in die Laubenkolonie der stillgelegten Grube Zellersweiler. Die Schrebergärten sollen eingeebnet werden, damit Parkplätze für das zum Kulturzentrum umgebaute Grubengebäude entstehen können. Da wird Norbert Gessner, früher Bergmann in Zellersweiler, ermordet in seiner Laube aufgefunden. Am Vortag noch hatte Gessner den Direktor des neuen Kulturzentrums massiv unter Druck gesetzt, um die Kolonie zu retten.
