Oroonoko: or, the Royal Slave is a short work of prose fiction by Aphra Behn (1640-1689), published in 1688 by William Canning and reissued with two other fictions later that year. The house once harboured Keziah Mason, an accused witch who disappeared mysteriously from a Salem jail in 1692.

"Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family" is a short story in the horror fiction genre, written by American author H. P. Lovecraft in 1920. The themes of the story are tainted ancestry, knowledge that it would be best to remain unaware of, and a reality which human understanding finds intolerable. Herland is a utopian novel from 1915, written by feminist Charlotte Perkins Gilman.
