The Tracy Aviary is a perfect place for visitors to get up close and learn about birds from the USA and around the world. Patricia Lawrence and Douglas Roycroft are exploring this world-class private aviary, open to the public since 1938, with knowledgeable aviary staff.

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge is on the northeast shores of the Great Salt Lake. Our exploration begins at the Park Ranger Station before we meet our naturalist guide for a tour of one of the most important bodies of water in the Americas for migrating birds.

Originally pursuing a circumnavigation, the journey took the author and his vessel on a 7,000-mile voyage to Hawaii, Tonga, Fiji, and finally, to New Caledonia, where Salt Peter met her end. It was a journey of discovery, both physically and spiritually, with a range of experience to last a lifetime. I invite you to join me on this year-long adventure and experience with me an honest, uncomplicated, and enriching interaction with the seemingly endless ocean and volatile sky and discover with me the rewards of taking a chance.
