Bereits 1949 wurde die erste Folge "Hesselbachs Ihrn Hausschlüssel" live aufgezeichnet und gesendet. In den folgenden Jahren sind unter dem Titel "Die Familie Hesselbach" weitere 47 Folgen dieser sogenannten Alltagschronik produziert worden. Zwei weitere Staffeln folgten.
