Schwejk ist nun Ordonnanz, sein Nachfolger als Putzfleck ist der verfressene Baloun, der seinen ständigen Heißhunger mit den für Oberleutnant Lukasch bestimmten Portionen zu stillen versucht. 2. Teil. Im Zug von Prag nach Budweis betätigt Schwejk die Notbremse. In Tábor versäumt er den Zug, vertrinkt sein Fahrgeld und muss daher zu Fuß nach Budweis laufen. Auf diesem Fußmarsch, "Schwejks Budweiser Anabasis", gelangt er nach einigen Abenteuern nach Putim, wo er von einem Wachtmeister für einen Spion gehalten wird. Von einem schwer betrunkenen Postenführer wird Schwejk beim Rittmeister in Písek abgeliefert, der ihn zu seinem Regiment nach Budweis zurückschickt.
