For 2,000 years, the church has awaited the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. For 2,000 years men have tried to predict the exact moment of His return. Though no man knows the exact hour or even the day He will come back, there are signs to indicate His coming is near. In the teaching series Rumblings of War and the Prince of Peace, Skip Heitzig thoroughly expounds upon Matthew 24, explaining prophecy of what must take place and encouraging the church to always be ready.

So many of us suffer from chronic guilt feelings; we assume that these feelings reflect God’s opinion of us. But then along comes the gospel – exploding the lie with its mind-shattering declaration that not only does He love us, He is the One who “forgives all [our] iniquities, who heals all [our] diseases” (Psalm 103:3). While we tend to conform to our own self-concept, becoming what we think we are, Jesus does something for us that no man can do, He give us a new identity. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have become new (2Corinthians 5:17).

Pastors suffer a variety of anxiety by trying to make sense of this pestilence while pastoring a political pickle. As a result, the pastors who stick it out are tempted to chase greatness by becoming motivational speakers who carry the world's weight on their shoulders. We are all learning this only leads to more anxiety, trauma, pain, and sin. Instead, this pivotal moment calls for pastors to choose goodness by becoming maturational leaders who care for the world by creating apprentices of Jesus who are intentionally engaged in spiritual formation for the sake of the world.

In 1991, the Iron Curtain was coming down. The Soviet Union was in collapse and Eastern Europe was entering an era of sweeping change. Six Florida teens and their 28-year-old leader joined a student exchange trip to Siberia, entirely unprepared for the impact that their young lives—and more importantly, their faith in Jesus Christ—would have on a country emerging from 70 years of enforced atheism. The Cold War would not end, as many feared, in a nuclear holocaust. Instead, Russia was about to experience a fresh encounter with the Prince of Peace.
