Paddy Muskrat lives in the millpond near Farmer Green's house with his wife, Mrs. Paddy Muskrat. He tends to get into trouble by saying and doing things that others do not understand, which occasionally causes problems with Mrs. Paddy. For example, when Paddy says he has fish to fry, which means he is very busy, others in the millpond interpret his words to mean it is eating fish they believe belong to them. Patty believes the millpond belongs to him and is never happy when others come to swim in it, especially Johnny Green and his friends.

Reddy Woodpecker is new to Pleasant Valley. Flying over Pleasant Valley one day, he decided to land and decided that it would be a good place for him to live. Reddy was strange to his new neighbors and some were rude and did not make him feel welcome but Reddy took it all in stride. As with all of Arthur Scott Bailey's animal stories, there are lessons to be learned about real life. For example, when Reddy met Cuffy Bear and they went hunting for grubs together, we learn about greed. Children are also introduced to new and different kinds of birds and their nesting and eating habits.

Spot is a farm dog. His master is Johnny Green, son of Farmer and Mrs. Green. As with many dogs, Spot manages to get into his share of scrapes. He has run-ins with some of the farm animals, most notably Miss Kitty Cat. Miss Kitty Cat and Spot have their battles, and Spot has the scars on his nose to prove it. Miss Kitty Cat would be happy if Spot were not on the farm at all. Henrietta Hen and Turkey Proudfoot are also not very fond of Spot. Spot wants to be included in most of the Green family's activities, and this leads to some interesting problems for them and Spot.

Jeremy Fisher is a frog. He lives at the edge of a pond in a "slippy-sloppy" house. One day he paddles off across the pond on his lily-pad boat on a fishing trip. He encounters all sorts of problems, not the least of which is a large trout who tries to swallow him. He ends up swimming for shore, and resolves not to go fishing again.

This charming classic was written for Noel, a young family friend of Beatrix Potter. He had fallen ill for many months and Beatrix wanted to help cheer him up. Peter Rabbit has a great deal of curiosity and loves to hear stories. In this collection of 16 short stories, Peter Rabbit learns more about many of his neighbors in the Green Forest and the Green Meadows. Sometimes Grandfather Frog tells him a story but there are other neighbors who also share their "knowledge" with him. For example, Peter wants to know why Mr. Bluebird has a beautiful coat when he can be such a bratty bird. Peter would also like to know why Mr. Hare gets a white coat in the winter and a brown one in the summer.

Peter Rabbit would like to know more about the four-footed friends who share the Green Meadows and Green Forest with him. Old Mother Nature is only too happy to help and holds a "school" for Peter. Along the way, many others of the Green Meadow and Green Forest creatures join Peter at school as he learns about his neighbors. As with all Thornton W. Burgess stories, young listeners gain positive values while learning a great deal about the animals that share their world.

In The Adventures of 'Unc Billy Possum, 'Unc Billy is a new arrival in the Green Forest. He finds he is lonesome in his new home. His almost uncontrollable urge for fresh eggs gets him in trouble with Farmer Brown's boy, and he soon discovers that he has good friends in the Green Forest.

Glenn Hascall does a beautiful job narrating this classic by Beatrix Potter. It will entertain youngsters, and also provide an object lesson.

Sammy Jay is a blue jay who, like most blue jays, is mischievous. He delights in making trouble for other creatures of the Green Meadows and the Green Forest. Sammy really doesn't want to see them hurt, he just wants to make torment them. Enter Chatterer the Red Squirrel, who also lives in the Green Forest and can be as troublesome as Sammy Jay. In The Adventures of Sammy Jay, Chatterer and Sammy Jay match wits and show off their bad attitudes toward one another.

A tale by Beatrix Potter reborn from Aesop's shorter fable of the town mouse and country mouse. High living in town, but many dangers. A more simplified life in the country, but perhaps not to the liking of some. A tale of divergent perspectives and, in this case, a realization that neither were wrong. Narrated by Glenn Hascall.

Peter Rabbit is a naughty but very lucky bunny. When his mother is away at the grocery, he naughtily slips into Mr. McGregor's garden and almost ends up as a rabbit pie like his father did years ago. His narrow escapes and harrowing experiences in that garden make a fine tale of adventure as well as a cautionary tale to warn children not to disobey their mothers.

The Tale of Pigling Bland - written by Beatrix Potter describing the adventures of the pig of the title and how his life changes upon meeting a soul mate, in much the same way that Potter's life was changing at the time the book was published.

In The Adventures of Peter Cottontail, Peter Rabbit doesn't like his name and tries to find another that has more prestige. His friends think he is silly and devise a scheme to show Peter the problem with changing his name. Peter learns his mistake and changes his name back.

Solomon Owl lives in Pleasant Valley. As with most owls, he is a loner. He doesn't have many friends and instead, often sees others smaller than him as food rather than friends. We discover how Solomon deals with other animals in the Pleasant Valley woods such as Mr. Frog the Tailor, Cousin Screecher, Fatty Coon, Mr. Crow, noisy Jasper Jay, and Aunt Polly Woodchuck the herb doctor. The characters in Bailey's books can be grumpy and predatory and will bite when aroused. Traditional virtues - honesty, reliability, loyalty, perseverance - are encouraged and rewarded.

The Adventures of Buster Bear follows a bear who has moved from the Great Woods to the Green Forest. Unknown to the little people of the Green Forest, Buster Bear, although is big and has a grumbly rumbly voice is actually very shy. As with most Burgess books, there is a positive morale to the story.

The sequel to Beatrix Potter's The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Peter Rabbit's cousin, Benjamin Bunny, takes Peter on an adventure to retrieve Peter's shoes and coat from Mr. McGregor's garden scarecrow. As they try to accomplish this, they encounter a cat and Benjamin's father.

Mr. Jeremy Fisher, an adventurous frog, decides to go fishing in the rain at a nearby pond, hoping to catch some minnows to share with his friends, Mr. Alderman Ptolemy Tortoise and Sir Issac Newton. What he catches instead nearly finishes him.

Beatrix Potter's delightful retelling of the famous Aesop fable. In Potter's version, little Timmy Willie, a country mouse, accidentally hops a ride into town in a vegetable hamper. There he meets Johnny Town-Mouse, a sophisticated city resident, and all his friends. Adjusting to the great differences between his home life and the city living conditions proves challenging for little Timmy Willie. Adjusting is similarly challenging when Johnny Town-Mouse comes to visit Timmy Willie in the country.
