"The Jelly Bean", "The Camel's Back", "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", "Mayday", and "The Diamond as Big as the Ritz" comprise this collection of humorous, strange, and sometimes terrifying tales.

Here is the ultimate romantic novel that reveals the decadence, prosperity, and exhilaration of the Jazz Age, the time that succeeded World War I, creating a world of glamour for the fortunate few. In Jay Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald creates a mysterious, wealthy hero who throws fabulous parties that he shows little interest in attending but which prove very eventful.

When The Great Gatsby was published, commercially it was a failure but critically it was a success. It is still the most admired and well-read of all Scott Fitzgerald’s novels and it is considered a handbook of the 'Jazz Age'. Scott Fitzgerald put much of himself and his life into the book. He created the character of Jay Gatsby to illustrate his own experiences of the illusory and morally bankrupt aspects of 1920s' America, and the character of Nick Carraway to show his disapproval of its destructive effects.

In these four semi-autobiographical stories Fitzgerald highlights some of the absurdities of Hollywood. They feature Pat Hobby, a down-on-his-luck scriptwriter. In the course of his adventures neither the stars, producers nor, least of all, the writers are spared from Fitzgerald's demolishing wit. These superb examples of short fiction succeed in mocking both success and failure as they deliver their sting with deadly humour.

NBC University Theater initially started in Chicago with a remit to bring adaptations of classic novels, usually Anglo-American, to a radio audience. In its later years, it also included short stories and plays and went on to win the distinguished Peabody award. University Theater relied on excellent distillations of the novels and first-class acting alongside high production values.

The novel tells the story of Anthony Patch (a 1920s socialite and presumptive heir to a tycoon's fortune), the relationship with his wife Gloria, his service in the army, and his alcoholism. At once a morality tale, a meditation on love, money and decadence, and a social document, the novel provides an excellent portrait of the Eastern elite as the Jazz Age begins its ascent, engulfing all classes into what will soon be known as Café Society.

The Beautiful and Damned, F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1922 novel, introduced Fitzgerald fans to 22-year-old Gloria Gilbert, a drop-dead gorgeous, selfish, gumdrop-addicted beauty from Kansas City, and 25-year-old Anthony Patch, a handsome, heir-to-a-fortune, careless, spoiled Harvard graduate and New York bon vivant. The novel opens in 1913, a time of flappers, jazz clubs, silent movies, and, for those who could afford it, a 24/7 world of parties, booze, and social extravagances.

This is a BBC Radio full-cast dramatisation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, starring Bryan Dick as Nick and Andrew Scott as Jay Gatsby. The greatest book on the fallibility of the American dream, The Great Gatsby, a portrait of the Jazz Age in all of its decadence and excess, is by far the most popular classic in modern American fiction. Self-made, self-invented millionaire Jay Gatsby embodies some of Fitzgerald's - and his country's - greatest obsessions: money, ambition, greed, and new beginnings.
