Schnee, Schnee, Schnee - so weit das Auge reichte, nichts als Schnee. Die ganze kanadische Winterlandschaft war unter einem dicken, weißen Pelz aus Schnee verborgen. Manche Bäume waren nur noch als kleine Hügel zu erkennen, die größeren waren dick bepackt und die Äste waren unter ihrer Last tief zu Boden gebogen. Der Himmel war wolkenlos und die Luft kristallklar. Die Sonne schien und sie versuchte wohl mit ihren Strahlen darüber hinweg zu täuschen, dass es klirrend kalt war.

Heute habe ich extra früh Feierabend gemacht, um der Einladung meiner Kollegin Anne nachzukommen. Ich sollte mir mal ihre neue Wohnung ansehen. Nach Feierabend bin ich noch schnell nach Hause, habe geduscht und mir ein paar frische Klamotten angezogen. Dann habe ich mich auf den Weg gemacht. Anne wohnt knapp 20 Kilometer von meiner Wohnung entfernt. Im Feierabendverkehr habe ich für diese Strecke fast 45 Minuten gebraucht.

Wegen einer Blinddarmreizung kam ich letztes Jahr ins Krankenhaus. Zum Glück war es aber falscher Alarm, es brauchte nicht operiert zu werden. Ich sollte aber trotzdem ein paar Tage zur Beobachtung da bleiben. Nach 22 Uhr kam dann die Nachtschwester, eine etwa 35-jährige schlanke Frau, schwarze Haare und ganz hübsch. Sie gab mir etwas zu trinken, dann schlief ich sofort ein. Nach etwa einer Stunde wachte ich auf.

Ich hab's getan. Seit Monaten habe ich mit mir gerungen, mir endlich einen Ruck zu geben und sie zu fragen. Und heute habe ich's endlich getan. Seit gut einem Jahr, als ich sie bei einer guten Freundin kennengelernt habe, kann ich nur noch an dieses Mädchen denken. Ich bin normalerweise gar nicht so schüchtern, sehe ziemlich gut aus und könnte auch einige haben, aber dieses Mal hat's mich richtig erwischt. Es ist keine pure Begierde, ich glaube, ich bin verliebt.

Manchmal gibt es Zusatzleistungen bei einer Arbeit, die man oft nicht erwartet. Wie vor Kurzem, als Alicias Mama mich fragte, ob ich ihre Küche am Wochenende für drei Dollar die Stunde oder für insgesamt 25 Dollar ausmalen könnte, was alles in allem weniger war. Ich dachte, dass es eine nette Abwechslung sein würde, Alicia während der Arbeit zu beobachten, weit abwechslungsreicher als Gartenarbeit für die alte Frau Bach zu machen.

Sabine war das, was man so im Allgemeinen einen Wonneproppen nennt. Ein lustiger Typ, immer gut drauf und für jeden Spaß zu haben.
