In this classic 19th-century story of love battling pride, we meet Elizabeth Bennet. Sense and Sensibility is a classic novel by Jane Austen, published in 1811. It was published anonymously; By A Lady appears on the title page where the author's name might have been. Jane Austen's Persuasion focuses on the regret and loneliness of Anne Elliot, who had rejected a proposal of marriage upon advice of a dear friend, from the one man she truly loved.
