After awakening in this modern world. I have struggled to find my bearings. My name is Mavis, and I was once the Queen of Irish vampyrs. Now I live in the shadows of both worlds. My daughter Alexia has begun to heal the devastation wrought by a malicious immortal monstrosity. I am working towards modernizing and attempting to begin University studies soon.

On the full moon after my 21st birthday, I was supposed to go through my first shift. Instead, I was left to huddle alone in the cold, a failure who couldn’t do the one thing expected of her. Now I have no mate, and I’m wondering if sticking with the pack is even worth it. Maybe it’s time I live among humans. That’s when a vampire shows up at my door and says he wants to claim me. While I might not know what I am, I’m pretty fricking certain that I’m not going to be mated to a bloodsucker. He might be a good friend, but that’s all he’ll ever be to me.

Some say that whenever it snows in Charleston, God is giving a miracle to his most favorite of places. So, I reckon, the blizzard that bleached the entire sky that December must have been a blessing of epic proportions. It was certainly a miracle that I’d forgotten my cell phone after giving my Christmas Eve sermon, and had to race back to the sanctuary in order to retrieve it.

She worked hard at everything else, too, and set off to college to accomplish big things in the wide world. Unfortunately, God called her right back to Charleston when her mama suffered a near fatal accident that left her requiring round the clock care.

Some folks are born with a silver spoon jutting right out of their mouths. Others are a bit more like Miss Harmony King.
