Beim Tauchen vor der Küste erscheint vor Yann, Zoom, Auru und Timeti plötzlich ein merkwürdiges Ungetüm. Als sie näher herankommen, verschwindet es genauso plötzlich wieder. Auru denkt, dass Yann sich einen Scherz erlaubt und einen Trick angewandt hat. Aber Yann und Timeti wollen hinter das Geheimnis kommen.

Onkel Patrick muss für ein paar Tage verreisen, und so zieht Auru mit seiner Familie in die Galeone, damit Yann und Marina nicht allein bleiben müssen. Sehr zum Missfallen von Yann. Am nächsten Morgen können sie alle ihren Augen kaum trauen. Das Meer vor Maotou ist tiefrot. Alle verdächtigen den armen Zoom, etwas mit dem Phänomen zu tun zu haben.

Marina möchte ein Video drehen, um damit einen Wettbewerb zu gewinnen, den ihre Lieblingsband "The Wild Coconuts" ausgeschrieben hat. Sie bittet Yann, Timeti und Auru um Hilfe. Die drei haben Lust, mitzumachen, entwickeln aber schnell ihre ganz eigenen Ideen zur Gestaltung des Films. Bald hat Marina gar nichts mehr zu sagen.

Das ganze Dorf bereitet sich auf die großen jährlichen Wettkämpfe vor, als Yann einen verletzten Oktopus findet und nach Hause bringt. Marina kümmert sich liebevoll um das Tier. Dabei bemerkt sie bald, dass der Oktopus hellseherische Fähigkeiten hat. Er kann den Ausgang eines jeden Wettkampfs vorhersagen. Für sie ist das ein Spaß, aber Jack beginnt es für sich nutzen.

Yann, Zoom und Auru werden beauftragt, eine Opfergabe zum tiefsten Punkt des Ozeans vor der Insel zu bringen, um den Hai-Gott zu besänftigen.

Papa Tuanaku will seinen Schiffsführerschein machen. Deshalb bricht Onkel Patrick mit ihm zu einer Übungsfahrt auf. Marina begleitet die beiden und gibt Papa Tuanaku viele gute Tipps. Derweil sind Yann, Timeti und Auru für Unterwasserfotos unterwegs. Hilferufe von der Jacht des Gauners Van Krook schrecken die drei auf und sie schleichen sich auf die Jacht.

Der jährliche Schwimmwettkampf zwischen Maotou und den Nachbarinseln steht bevor. Die beiden Favoriten können aus verschiedenen Gründen nicht am Wettkampf teilnehmen. Nun richten sich alle Hoffnungen auf Papa Tuanaku. Aber damit droht das große Geheimnis von Papa Tuanaku aufzufliegen. Yann bietet seine Hilfe an und Zoom natürlich auch.

Maeva ist mit Onkel Patrick zum Einkaufen gefahren, und Timeti ist für einen Tag verantwortlich für das Restaurant. Dank der Hilfe von Yann und Marina ...

Yann und seine Freunde treffen auf Aglagla, einen kleinen Pinguin. Er konnte seinen Entführern, den Gaunern Biff und Rico, entkommen. Aber deren Boss Van Krook will den Pinguin wiederhaben. Also schickt Van Krook seine beiden Handlanger los, um den Pinguin wieder einzufangen.
