Eines Tages kommt Kaewe in den Besitz einer magischen Flasche, die seinem Besitzer jedweden Wunsch sofort erfüllt. Zunächst ungläubig stellt Kaewe fest, dass diese Behauptung der Wahrheit entspricht. Leider hat der Zauber auch seinen Nachteil: Besitzt man die Flasche, wenn man stirbt, so gibt es keine Rettung.

First published in 1886, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde is perhaps the most famous example of the gothic horror novella. Gabriel John Utterson, a sombre London lawyer, becomes concerned for the safety and sanity of his friend and client Dr. Henry Jekyll, after the doctor begins associating with an unseemly young man named Edward Hyde. Following a spate of crimes, including blackmail and murder, and with all fingers pointing at Hyde, the lawyer sets out to free his friend from the dreadful influence of his new acquaintance. Not everything, however, is as it seems.

The Toll House, standing alone by the wayside under nodding pines, with its streamlet and water-tank; its backwoods, toll-bar, and well trodden croquet ground; the ostler standing by the stable door, chewing a straw; a glimpse of the Chinese cook in the back parts; and Mr. Hoddy in the bar, gravely alert and serviceable, and equally anxious to lend or borrow books; dozed all day in the dusty sunshine, more than half asleep. There were no neighbours, except the Hansons up the hill.

A change in the colour of the light usually called me in the morning. By a certain hour, the long, vertical chinks in our western gable, where the boards had shrunk and separated, flashed suddenly into my eyes as stripes of dazzling blue, at once so dark and splendid that I used to marvel how the qualities could be combined. Die gottesfürchtige Puritanergesellschaft eines kleines Dorfes staunt nicht schlecht als sich ihr neuer Pastor als ein Mann erweist, dem die 1000-2000 Buchseiten konzentrierter Wahrheit, die Bibel, anscheinend nicht genügen. Nicht nur, dass er sich anmaßt andere Bücher zu lesen, er stellt sogar eine lupenreine Sünderin, Janet, als Hausangestellte ein.

First published in 1886, Robert Louis Stevenson's rollicking historical novel Kidnapped was an instant bestseller. It was followed by an 1893 sequel, Catriona, which Stevenson regarded as his 'high water mark', declaring that he would 'never do a better book'. With Trelawney's friend Dr. Livesey, the squire charters a schooner carrying a band of pirates led by Long John Silver. Excitement and heroic action await Jim Hawkins as he seeks to foil the pirates, find the buried gold, and bring Long John Silver to justice.
