If you have been subjected to gaslighting by a skilled narcissist, it is no doubt that you have suffered significant PTSD, Complex PTSD, Cassandra Syndrome, Battered Person Syndrome, and more. You were led to believe that you were damaged, crazy, psychotic, etc. You were led there by someone who was much sicker than you were. Gaslighting is dangerous and devastating.

Silent treatment is one of the most devastating acts from a narcissist when his or her lover is falling in love with them. The narcissist uses this tactic to create a conflict of "supply and demand". The narcissist love bombs and supplies his lovers for a time period until he has no more to give or until he gets bored with his partner. Then he pushes the partner away and returns to fulfill his own desires while the partner is away.

Anxiety can escalate to another level. When a person is exposed to traumatic or negative events where they feel little or no control in the outcome, the anxiety can turn into post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). If you have enough recurring events in your life that are traumatic, you may even be diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD).

If you have been in a relationship with a narcissist, it is no doubt that you have been subjected to the worst psychological warfare that there is: gaslighting. Gaslighting is a form of abuse and torture that can cause you to break. It can cause you to lose your mind. It can cause your psyche and your rationality to separate at the seams. Gaslighting can damage you in ways that nothing else can damage you. It is a form of brainwashing that should only be used in war, but is used against you right in your own living room.

Narcissists are everywhere. It is said that we are in the midst of a narcissist epidemic. Some sources claim that one in four people is a narcissist. This means that your child, parent, neighbor, coworker, friend, or partner could very well be a narcissist. Narcissists are often not harmful when they keep to themselves. Their behavior becomes a problem when they try to interact with other people. They often don't know how to act, and thus they cause others a significant deal of pain.

If you have been around a narcissist for any length of time, odds are good that you are suffering from narcissistic abuse syndrome. The label doesn’t matter so much. The cause of your symptoms matters most. The narcissist is a toxic entity. Most people don’t realize it, but once you invite a narcissist in, the narcissist’s hive descends down on you. They pull you back into their nest of angry hornets, and you suffer the stings over and over from them...until you extract yourself from the hive. Some people are never able to get out alive.

The narcissist cannot help but be a negativist. Most of his life was taken away from him by someone else who was domineering, over-protective, smothering, aloof, depressed, or self-indulgent. His mother or his father didn't think to teach him much of anything. He feels deprived at being sent out in the world, completely unprepared as to how to go about much of anything. The narcissist is a negativist because he dislikes his perceived inability to control the 'play' that he is a part of.

You want to feel needed and loved, but you don't know why he is treating you this way. He used to be romantic, maybe even sending flowers and staying up talking to you on the phone all night long. Now you can't seem to drag his attention away from other things. Is it something you did?

They struggle to get out of the relationships, but the cognitive dissonance of the narcissists pulls them back in. Narcissists are nice at times, and then they are critical, rigid, and self-absorbed at other times. They both intrigue us and disgust us at the very same time.

It is likely that you have been recently told by a spouse, friend, family member, or health-care provider that you have OCPD. What does that mean to you? You have been the same way all of your life. All of your family members have likely been this way as well. You involve yourself deeply in your work and in ensuring that your family and yourself are well provided for. Your employer seems to be happy with your hard work and perseverance. You are stable and grounded.
