Anne of Green Gables is a 1908 novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery. Written for all ages, it has been considered a classic children's novel since the mid-20th century.

Anne's House of Dreams is a novel by the Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery. It was first published in 1917 by McClelland, Goodchild and Stewart. The novel is from a series of books written primarily for girls and young women, about a young girl named Anne Shirley. The books follow the course of Anne's life. It is set principally on Canada's Prince Edward Island, Montgomery's birthplace and home for much of her life.

Anne’s House of Dreams begins after the events of Anne of Windy Poplars and gives listeners a look at the early days of Anne’s married life with her childhood love Gilbert Blythe. After buying "The House of Dreams" together on the seashore of Four Winds Point, they become friends with their new neighbors, each of whom have their own interesting quirks. They befriend a kind lighthouse keeper, a beautiful woman in a sad marriage, and a writer on the search for inspiration for the next great Canadian novel.

Anne Shirley is grown up, has married her beloved Gilbert, and is now the mother of six mischievous children. These boys and girls discover a special place all their own, but they never dream of what will happen when the strangest family moves into an old nearby mansion. The Meredith clan is two boys and two girls, with a minister father but no mother---and a runaway girl named Mary Vance.

It was a clear, apple-green evening in May, and Four Winds Harbour was mirroring back the clouds of the golden west between its softly dark shores. The sea moaned eerily on the sand-bar, sorrowful even in spring, but a sly, jovial wind came piping down the red harbor road along which Miss Cornelia’s comfortable, matronly figure was making its way towards the village of Glen St. Mary. Miss Cornelia was rightfully Mrs. Marshall Elliott, and had been Mrs. Marshall Elliott for thirteen years, but even yet more people referred to her as Miss Cornelia than as Mrs. Elliott.
