Hero and Leander is a Greek myth concerning the tragic story of two lovers. One was a priestess of Aphrodite who lived in a tower in Sestos, and the other a young man from Abydos on the opposite side of the strait. Leander fell in love with Hero and would swim every night across the Hellespont to spend time with her, with Hero's lamp at the top of her tower as his guiding light, and they shared a warm summer of love.

Thomas von Steinaecker schreibt Romane, Hörspiele und rezensiert Comics. Sein erster Roman "Wallner beginnt zu fliegen" (2007) gewann gleich mehrere Preise. Dabei ist der gebürtige Bayer gerade mal knapp über 30. In seinem neuen Buch "Schutzgebiet" (2009) geht es um ein fiktives deutsches Kolonialgebiet in Afrika, in dem sich 1913 eine skurrile Gruppe verkrachter Existenzen versammelt.

"Meine literarische Heimat bin ich selber, die unabhängige autonome Republik Katja Lange-Müller", sagt die 1951 in der DDR geborene Schriftstellerin. Wegen "unsozialistischen Verhaltens" von der Schule geflogen, arbeitete sie zunächst als Bildredakteurin, Psychiatrie-Schwester und Schriftsetzerin, bis sie Anfang der 80er Jahre ihre Bestimmung im Schreiben fand und einem Exil in der Mongolei doch die Ausreise nach Westberlin vorzog.

Gleich sein erster Roman "Mai, Juni, Juli" aus dem Jahre 1987 brachte Joachim Lottmann den Titel "Vater der Popliteratur" ein. Wenn auch erst 2004, als der verschwundene Autor durch ein Kritikerlob in der FAZ sein grandioses Comeback startete. Seitdem hat der 53jährige gebürtige Hamburger bis heute fünf weitere Romane veröffentlicht, bloggt für die taz und kritisiert leidenschaftlich gern andere Autoren. In seinem neuesten Roman "Der Geldkomplex" (2009) beschreibt Lottmann, wie man als Geisterfahrer im Strom der Krise doch noch sein Glück finden kann.

In Meineckes neuestem Buch "Jungfrau" arrangiert der Musiker, DJ, Buch- und Hörspielautor eine ganze Handvoll seiner Lieblingsthemen umeinander herum: Feminismus, Musik, Religiosität, die Parallelen zwischen spiritueller und sexueller Hingabe und B-Movies der 50er Jahre. Zwischen seinen Protagonisten wimmelt es von Querverweisen auch auf Heilige und Philosophen des 19. Jahrhunderts.
