Der Aufsatz. Auch das noch - SpongeBob muss für die Fahrschule einen Aufsatz schreiben und hat nur bis zum Morgen Zeit. Leider kann der quirlige Schwamm sich gar nicht konzentrieren und kommt stundenlang nicht voran. In seiner Panik beginnt er sogar zu halluzinieren und mit seinen Hosen auf der Wäscheleine zu sprechen... Einer ist immer der Dumme. Patricks Eltern kommen zu Besuch. Leider halten diese ihren Sohn nicht wirklich für eine Leuchte. SpongeBob schlägt vor, den Idioten vor Patricks Eltern zu mimen um seinen Freund intelligenter aussehen zu lassen. Unaussprechlich.

Die Schatzsuche. Patrick und SpongeBob überreden Mr. Krabs zu einem Schatzsuche-Spiel. Der leckt sofort Blut und schleppt die beiden auf eine wirkliche Schatzsuche. Es gibt nur ein Problem: Die Schatzkarte ist falsch! Bus verpasst. Aus Versehen steigt SpongeBob in den falschen Bus und landet in einer seltsamen Gegend namens Rock Bottom. Der arme Schwamm versteht weder Sprache noch Gesten der merkwürdigen Bewohner. Wie soll er bloß wieder nach Hause finden? Texas. Wurmi. Sandy muss für ein paar Tage die Stadt verlassen und gibt ihre Raupe bei SpongeBob und Patrick in Pflege. Als über Nacht aus der Raupe ein wunderschöner Schmetterling schlüpft, geraten die beiden Freunde in Panik. Sie sind sich sicher: Der Schmetterling hat Sandys Wurmi gefressen. Heldenhaft machen sich die beiden auf, Bikini Bottom vor dem Killer-Schmetterling zu warnen. Eine gute Idee. Mr. Krabs ist auf der Suche nach einem neuen Verkaufsschlager. Als alle seine Ideen floppen, schlägt SpongeBob vor, bunte Krabben-Pizzen anzubieten.

Aprilscherze. Der 1. April ist SpongeBobs Lieblingstag. An diesem Tag kann er von morgens bis abends Unsinn verbreiten, ohne dass das ernsthafte Konsequenzen hätte - auch wenn die meisten Leute seine Gags nicht recht begreifen. Thaddäus will Bob beibringen, wie ein echter Aprilscherz funktioniert. Dabei gelingt es ihm tatsächlich, den Schwamm reinzulegen. Doch er zuletzt lacht, lacht am besten. Rückkehr der Superhelden. SpongeBob ist der glückliche Gewinner seiner Lieblings-Talkshow, und er gewinnt ausgerechnet das Muschelhorn seiner Superhelden Meerjungfraumann und Blaubarschbube.

Dick, Rosa und Dumm. Patrick fühlt sich als totaler Versager und erklärt kurzerhand SpongeBob zu seinem neuen Vorbild. Dem wird die neue Heldenverehrung schnell unheimlich … Der Doppelgänger. Plankton schmuggelt sich als Mr. Krabs verkleidet in die Krosse Krabbe. SpongeBob zweifelt bald an seinem Verstand als ihm der echte und der falsche Mr. Krabs völlig unterschiedliche Anweisungen geben. Ein Freund, ein guter Freund.... SpongeBob fühlt sich einsam, denn sein Kumpel Patrick ist unterwegs. Doch schnell hat er einen neuen Freund gefunden: eine Seifenblase.

Aushilfe gesucht. SpongeBob würde so gerne in seinem Lieblings-Fastfood-Restaurant Krosse Krabbe arbeiten. Doch leider gilt es vorher einen Eignungstest zu bestehen. Und der hat es in sich. Nach dem Quallen-Fischen folgt SpongeBob eine besonders anhängliche Qualle nach Hause. Gutmütig beschließt dieser, sie als neues Haustier zu behalten.
