Amberley sieht sich daher genötigt, Sherlock Holmes mit der Wiederbeschaffung des Geldes zu beauftragen, um sein Leben nicht im Armenhaus fristen zu müssen. Sherlock Holmes übernimmt den Fall. Und er bringt dabei Dinge ans Tageslicht, mit denen niemand gerechnet hätte.
