Dr. Anne Davis is a professor of Biblical Studies at Trinity Southwest University and director of educational programs at BibleInteract. Her ongoing research has led her to the Hebraic nature of the New Testament, the intimate connection between the two testaments, and ancient methodology used by the apostle Paul and other New Testament authors. Her work to understand methods that would have been in use during the first century, before the production of hand-copied books, has led to this and other publications that explain and apply these ancient methods.

Reid has spent her whole life pretending to be a man so she can inherit her father’s estate, but when a chance encounter threatens to expose her lie, she is forced to risk everything. In the kingdom of Marsden, women are subservient to men and land can only pass from father to son. So when Reid Ellington is born, the fifth daughter to one of the wealthiest landholders in the kingdom, it’s announced that Reid is a boy.

Haggadic midrash is an ancient Hebraic method of uncovering a depth of meaning from the Hebrew scriptures, which was used by Jesus (Yeshua) in the New Testament. Every parable uses haggadic midrash to draw from the Old Testament in order to retell the story in a creative and artistic way. The purpose of the midrash is to instruct God’s children to walk in righteousness. Dr. Davis leads the reader to explore this approach by posing provocative questions. After completing each chapter, you will find a summary of the mystery that the parable has disclosed.
