Part 3 of 3: Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop student with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.

Picking up exactly where Playing Gods 1: Isolation left off, Playing Gods 2: Adaptation brings the zehuderan warriors Xriah and Vylis to the world of Gravios. A far cry from the last plane where the two battled, Gravios is an ocean world of cybernetically augmented humans and post-apocalyptic sea vessels. All land on Gravios has been completely submerged into the depths, the sea level elevated by the planet-swallowing marine creature known as the Grava.

A Rocky Mountain winter has left Breck reeling from the carnage unleashed by bloodthirsty trapper Judd Carnahan - and readying a quest for vengeance as ruthless as their prey. Michael, Akio, Yuko and the rest are searching for the pieces necessary to put together a craft which Michael hopes will take him to Bethany Anne. But first, there are idiots in his way, seeking the same parts and intend to take them. By force. The challenge is they will find out what ‘force’ truly means when they dare to go up against the Dark Messiah. One way or another, Michael will get back to Bethany Anne.

It’s 1933. Reporter Cynthia Tynan finds herself drawn into the mystery surrounding the disappearance of several prominent New Yorkers and seeks the aid of the Lobster…but that grim vigilante is investigating break-ins and thefts in a number of science research labs in the city. The two cases quickly intertwine, bringing the Lobster and his associates into contact with German spies, religious lunatics, and monstrously transformed people who have been subjected to hideous experimentation.

To complicate matters, there is a group out of England believing Michael’s blood will be just what they need for their business. While they get nasty Vampires off the street at the same time. Further, the effort to pull together the Sacred Clan’s ship parts are starting to come together. Unfortunately, no one wishes to give Michael and his new family any help.

The governments have to be told about aliens, which sparks a worldwide effort by Governments to find what TQB has.... Oh, and Eric wants to date Gabrielle but he wants her to know he can protect her if need be. But his idea on how? Well, let's just say it might not be the best solution.

Michael just wants a little sleep. The last few days has been a bit of a learning overload after coming back a hundred and fifty years after he was blown apart by a backpack nuke. The world destroyed itself, there are anti-gravity cars and ships, and his love is in the stars... somewhere. Plus, there is a Vampire trying to make Europe his personal fiefdom. Akio and Yuko are trying to find him, and he has a young female Wechselbalg and male Vampire to keep on the straight and narrow.

Michael returns to fulfill a promise to his love, but the world isn't the same place. Michael, the Archangel himself, has returned after a hundred and fifty years rejuvenating in the Etheric Dimension. Now, the most powerful male Vampire the world had ever known is back. The problem? The world went through an Apocalypse and what little honor and justice that previously existed, is gone. Further, his love has left to the stars somewhere, fighting for those on Earth.

Junior year has come for the remaining students of Melbrook Hall, and it promises to be the most difficult one yet. With one of their own gone and another under serious investigation, none of the former Powereds knows how many days remain for them in the Hero Certification Program. The time they do have will be filled with more trials and classes, honing their skills as they work toward the increasingly difficult goal of becoming Heroes. Ample new challenges await them, and not all of them can be met on the safety of Lander’s campus.
