When Walt Whitman self-published "Leaves of Grass" in 1855, he rocked the literary world and forever changed the course of poetry. In subsequent editions, Whitman continued to revise and expand his poems - but none matched the raw power and immediacy of the first edition. This volume presents the 1855 "Leaves of Grass" in its entirety, unchanged, along with Ralph Waldo Emerson's famous letter to Whitman.

Dwindling food supplies and the daily risk of capture are taking their toll. Mistakes are fatal, and the exhaustion that comes with living under constant danger is wearing them down.

The only possible thing that could make Morgan's world even more difficult happened. The Japanese fleet off the coast of California was wiped out. An even that Morgan and friends and family only knew about because of the radio broadcasts from the Radio Free Redoubt. So far removed from them it barely warranted notice. That is until the Chinese retaliated by launching a nuclear counter-strike against Mac Dill Air Force base. This, did warrant their attention and had the potential to profoundly impact their lives.

Morgan and his extended family could see the light at the end of the tunnel, dim though it may be. There was the promise of power once again. The plant was being repaired, and it looked as though it may actually run. While it meant lots of hard, sweaty work, the reward was worth the investment. The farm was growing strong, and community involvement was good. People were finally coming to terms with the fact that they needed to work together. So far Mother Nature had been on their side. But that, too, was about to change.

The news is full of disturbing events today. There's war and rumors of war. There's the false recovery of the economy. Faith in the US economy is extremely low. Foreign banks have either slowed their purchases of Treasury Bonds or, in a few cases, begun unloading them. We have a current election that is rife with corruption, extreme partisanship, and outright fraud. It would appear the left in the country is ready to do about anything to see their candidate elected.

Charlie finds herself caught in the city as it degenerates into chaos following an EMP attack. Charlie, a successful pharmaceutical sales rep, has no background in prepping or survival. Thrust into a do or die situation, she quickly learns that leaders in Washington are working to change the country as she knows it. Her world has become a race to freedom while attempting to avoid capture by the new government's agents.
