A post-apocalyptic zombie story. Though it is about an illness the message remains true, and that is when there seems to be no light hold on to hope. It is about never giving up when it appears there is nothing left to fight for. It is about not taking anything for granted from the simplicity of tasks, to the little noises, all the way up to the people we cherish; and that sometimes the strangers we meet along the way, even if we don't see it, are the ones that give us that strength.

Thorndike is just like any other quaint Cornish village. Everyone knows everyone, and families have lived there for generations. The village inn boasts the finest food and warmest welcome, and visitors and locals alike agree that old Thad Beanie makes the most delicious meat pies they have ever tasted.

When Catherine Porter murders her only son and takes her own life, no one can understand why. Vilified for her crimes, she becomes synonymous with everything evil and wicked amongst the locals, and parents begin using her name to scare their errant children into behaving. Soon after her death, reports begin to circulate that her ghost has been seen inside her old house. Over the years, the sightings continue, sending most of the house's occupants running from the property, screaming into the night, never to return.

Zoey, newly single and on the rebound, advertises for a roommate, and 10 minutes later, Carole, a beautiful woman with a haunting secret, mysteriously shows up at her door. Zoey likes her instantly, and Carole moves in the next day. Looking to date again, Zoey meets Michael, when he’s hired as an outside contractor by her firm.
