The Works of Edgar Allan Poe (1809 – 1849), The Raven Edition, presents his complete literary output in five volumes. Although best known for his works of macabre fiction, Poe also had a deep interest in scientific discovery and speculative philosophy. This volume contains stories about wild and wonderful experiments and other objects of public curiosity, and essays about language and thought.

In this tale, our narrator is deemed guilty of an unnamed crime and condemned to death by a tortuous method of which he can only imagine. His sister too is very ill, suffering from cataleptic deathlike trances. Award-winning narrator Mike Vendetti reads "The Bells" By Edgar Allan Poe. The poem has four parts; each part becoming darker and darker as the poem progresses from "the jingling and the tinkling" of the bells in part one to the "moaning and the groaning" of the bells in part four.
