The singular blending of testimony, prayer, and praise in Psalm 119 is admirable. In one verse, the psalmist bears witness; in a second verse, he praises; in a third verse, he prays. It is an incense made up of many spices, but they are wonderfully mixed and worked together to form one perfect sweetness. The blending greatly increases the value of the whole. This wonderful psalm, from its great length, helps us to marvel at the immensity of Scripture.

Every excuse, reason, and roadblock for not coming to Christ is examined and duly dealt with. If you think you may be too bad, or if perhaps you really are bad and you sin either openly or behind closed doors, you will discover that life in Christ is for you too. You can reject the message of salvation by faith, or you can choose to live a life of sin after professing faith in Christ, but you cannot change the truth as it is, either for yourself or for others.

Soldiers of Christ must, like soldiers of our nation, wear their uniforms; and if they are ashamed of their uniforms, they ought to be drummed out of the army. I believe that many Christians get into a lot of trouble by not being honest in their convictions. For instance, if a person goes into a workshop, or a soldier into a barracks, and if he does not fly his flag from the beginning, it will be very difficult for him to run it up afterward.

He who does not take the step of faith and enter upon the road to heaven will perish. It will be an awful thing to die close to yet outside the gate of life. Almost saved, but altogether lost! This is the most terrible of positions. A man just outside Noah’s ark would have drowned; a murderer close to the wall of the city of refuge, but outside of it, would be slain; and the man who is within a yard of Christ but has not trusted him will be lost.

The discussions in this little audiobook are not supposed to be arguments. It was not my aim to convince an opponent but to assist a friend. How I have personally threaded the labyrinth of life thus far may be of helpful interest to some other soul who is in a maze. I hope that this book will assist some true heart to say “he fought his doubts and gather’d strength”. Let no man’s heart fail him, for, the prevalent skepticism of today are but “specters of the mind”. Face them, and they fly.

"Whatever else I do, I must pray," emphasized R. A. Torrey. This strong conviction runs through the writings of all seven of the renowned Christian authors featured in this book. A Passion for Prayer offers spiritual and practical advice on how to effectively enter into prayer, live a life infused with prayer, and see profound answers to your petitions. It includes the writings of R. A. Torrey, Charles Spurgeon, E. M. Bounds, George Müller, Andrew Murray, Charles Finney, and D. L. Moody.
