Before The Long Flight

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
In the quiet village of Aubeville, Kestler has built a life around ordinary things: honest work, family, and the routines that help old wounds stay bearable. His children have grown into lives of their own, each carrying grief, fear, and hopes they rarely put into words.

Then Meara and her daughter Liera arrive at the Kestler home seeking shelter. They come carrying a past shaped by loss and uncertainty, expecting little from the family that takes them in. What begins as simple hospitality slowly becomes something deeper. Through shared meals, daily chores, repaired furniture, quiet conversations, and the patient work of learning to trust, strangers begin to become family.

For Liera, the house offers a life she never believed she could have. For Kestler and his children, her presence, and Meara's, forces them to confront old grief and discover forms of kindness they had forgotten how to recognize.

But Meara carries a truth that none of them can avoid forever. As the seasons change and her strength begins to fade, the family must learn that love is sometimes measured not by how long someone stays, but by what they leave behind.

A quiet, character-driven story about grief, healing, belonging, and the fragile bonds that turn a house into a home.
