The Bearer Trilogy

The plane crash looks like an accident. Mike Best knows better.A Wyoming oil executive and former refinery operator, Mike has spent his career reading the difference between system failure and sabotage. So when his engine quits over the Medicine Bow range and he deadsticks his Piper Cub onto a dark runway with nothing but muscle memory and a tailwind, he isn't surprised when FBI agent Pat Wright is waiting on the tarmac — or when the news Pat delivers is worse than the crash.Mike's daughter Maddie is missing. What begins as a desperate search across the Beartooth Mountains becomes something more complicated than rescue. The Family — a sophisticated eco-terrorist network with deep roots in the American energy industry — is involved. But so are people closer to home. And the trail Maddie left behind doesn't look like the trail of a victim. It looks like the trail of someone who knew exactly where she was going. As Mike fights his way toward the truth — through gunfire, altitude, and the wreckage of a grief he has never properly faced — he begins to understand that the operation targeting him may have started somewhere he never thought to look. Three years ago. In his own refinery. On the morning he chose not to answer the phone.Armor Bearer is a propulsive thriller about fathers and daughters, the cost of always choosing the right problem over the right person, and the debts that wait patiently until someone comes to collect. For readers of Daniel Silva, C.J. Box, and Craig Johnson.
