Dork Diaries

Resumen

Let your inner dork shine through in this funny and upbeat series about middle-schooler Nikki and her tales of misadventure and friendship!

Can Nikki survive middle school without everyone thinking she's a total dork? When her dad's bug-extermination business gets her a scholarship to the prestigious Westchester Country Day, Nikki is less than thrilled. A new school means new opportunities to be targeted by mean girls—her locker is right next to one!—and other middle school disasters. Not to mention, she can't let anyone know that her dad is the school's exterminator—she'd die of embarrassment, and mean girl Mackenzie Hollister would never let her live it down! Luckily for Nikki, she has her beloved diary to doodle and confide in as she chronicles the drama, missteps, and angst of surviving a new school. But it's not all bad—Nikki makes new friends, gains a crush, forms a band, and discovers that there's a little bit of dork in everyone, even middle school mean girls!

Lana Quintal narrates the first three books of the series, and she may be a familiar voice to younger listeners—she's also narrated the Junie B. Jones series by Barbara Park. From there, Jenni Barber takes over, and she does a wonderful job at capturing the youthful angst and enthusiasm of Nikki's voice! Both narrators offer a performance so authentic, it feels like eavesdropping on a seventh-grade sleepover.

This long-running series with more than 13 million copies in print takes Nikki from awkward middle school new girl to teen pop star, with plenty of laughs and minor catastrophes in between!
