Hawkshaw investigator

Elida, a young wizard for hire, finds herself caught between grief and chaos after her father's sudden death. In a world teeming with supernatural beings like vampires, werewolves, and ghouls, Elida works as a private investigator in Pittsburgh, solving unassigned cases that most of the police force avoids. Her sharp skills catch the attention of Aurora Miller, a detective ostracized for reporting an unbelievable sighting. Aurora hires Elida to find a missing girl presumed dead due to her long absence. As Elida delves deeper into the case, she discovers that her father left her a box containing a ring with powerful defensive magic. This discovery coincides with an unsettling revelation about her heritage—she is the daughter of a Fae princess.Elida's investigation leads her to the Crimson Court, vampires who live off willing blood donors. They suggest that a Pale Fey has taken the girl as a human pet. The Alabaster Council, a group of wizards sworn to prevent black magic, watches Elida's moves closely but offers little help. As the search intensifies, Elida enlists Zackry Wallace, an army vet with ties to the supernatural world. She met Zack when casting a spell for another client and realized his potential despite his mental trauma from war. He now helps at a flower shop but remains ready for action when called upon. With Zack's aid, Elida confronts the brutal reality of the Black Court—a chaotic mix of undead creatures—and faces off against ghouls and a wrath in an epic battle to rescue the girl. During the fight, Elida finds Tyrian shekels on the girl, hinting at strong magic and setting up future conflicts. The Pale Fey indeed took the girl but was captured by the summer court and punished.
