But when she receives news of her feisty grandmother’s unexpected return to town, it seems Zoe's life is about to get more colorful. Upon her grandmother’s arrival at the Orchard Grove Nursing Home, things take a drastic turn. When a resident dies, the quiet life there turns chaotic.

After saving her grandmother and solving the Orchard Grove case, Zoe finally settles into her apartment with her dog Max. But her peace is short-lived. Chaos invades her work life when her editor, Rick, becomes erratic, unpredictable, and begins chasing mysterious leads. Zoe finds herself longing for the rigors of D.C. and her old job at the Washington Express, until Rick suddenly vanishes. The cryptic clues connected to his disappearance lead Zoe out of Sapphire Valley and into Charleston, where she discovers a ransacked hotel room, blood on the floor, and no signs of Rick.
