Have you ever faced a trial in your life so challenging that it threatened to shake your faith and steal all of your light and joy? In 2015, I experienced such a trial. I was a rising college senior, a nationally-ranked equestrian, and a carefree 20-year-old when my life suddenly and drastically changed. After losing sight in both of my eyes and hearing in one ear following a routine surgery, I faced unimaginable grief, obstacles, and hardships that seemed impossible to overcome. Thankfully, my story does not end there, because our God is more powerful than anything that we face here on Earth. Over the years that followed, I continued to endure all of the challenges that come with navigating the world with a disability, but I learned the importance of doing it all with Christ by my side.

In the devotions that follow, you will get a glimpse into my life before, during, and after my sight loss. With the help from scriptures and practical lessons from my own life, I aim to show you over the next 30 days how, through facing your trials with a focus on the Lord, you can always find light despite your dark circumstances, intentionally choose joy in every situation, and ultimately build your faith along the way.
